En Pointe | Part I
“The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house.
All that cold, cold, wet day.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat
Well, we do not merely sit and we do not merely stand, but we lounge and stretch and posture as best we can. (Ha! I think I'll stick to photography...) In any case, we sought refuge in a light-filled loft provided by my dear friend and fellow photog, the Lovely Elena, and Ellie the Dancer rested and readied herself to fulfill a personal project of mine. I love the beauty of dance - the lines, the motion, the grace - and I enlisted the help of Ellie after judging her high school dance tryouts to pose and dance for me in a series of photoshoots.
This particular one gives a glimpse into getting ready, practice, and breaking to enjoy a luxuriously lonely moment of coffee and rain.
Ellie, thank you for being my dance model and for going along with this crazy scheme of mine! And Elena, thank you for lending me your loft yet again. It is so satisfying as an artist to orchestrate something like this simply for the pleasure of it; for the love of making art.
To everyone watching, enjoy the first of my three-part series on dance...
